Your family is growing, your kids are getting older. Freeze time with a bespoke family photography session. Keep scrolling to find out what you can expect from a photoshoot with me, learn more about my photography style and discover how much it will cost. I've also got some frequently asked questions. But please do get in touch if you'd like to have a chat. I'd love to hear from you!
WHAT TO EXPECT AT A FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY SHOOT
Once you've booked your family photography session, we'll have a chat so I can find out a bit more about you and your lovely brood. That way I can make sure I tailor the session to you.
I'll send you a guide with some tips for getting ready for your session and then we'll then pick the date, time and the location. I'll send you your gallery around two weeks after for you to view your images and decide what you would like to buy.
The session itself will be unrushed with plenty of time for changing nappies, giving the kids a snack, or a quick outfit change. Whatever you need! Most sessions are done within 2 hours at the most, or whenever the kids have had enough!
I understand that it can be slightly terrifying if you aren't used to being in front of the camera, so I aim to keep it relaxed and fun. Because that's how we'll capture the sweetest, unscripted moments.
MY PHOTOGRAPHY STYLE
How would I describe my style? Natural, light-filled family photography. No plain white backgrounds here. No forced posing. No blue jeans and white shirts for everyone. I strive to capture natural images of you and your family. In your home or in the great outdoors. Wherever we shoot, your images will look and feel like you. If that sounds like what you are looking for, then keep scrolling...
SO WHAT DOES A FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION COST?
I charge a session fee of £100 on weekdays and £125 on weekends and school holidays for family photography sessions. The fee is payable at the time of booking to secure your date. It doesn't include any prints or digital images. These are available separately.
DIGITAL AND ARTWORK COLLECTIONS
I am a passionate believer that if you are investing in family photography you should be proudly displaying it around your home so what I really want is to leave you with gorgeous, bespoke pieces of artwork that will really stand the test of time. You can buy just the digitals or specific print items, or you can choose a great value package. I can also quote for bespoke packages if you have your heart set on something in particular.
Choosing your family photographer is a big decision. I've answered some of the most common queries I get below but if there is anything else like you'd know please do give me a shout. I'd love to hear from you!
So where will my session be?
As a family photographer I cover areas in Surrey, Sussex and Kent. Family photography sessions can take place in the comfort of your own home or garden or at a location of your choice. If you need help choosing somewhere, just let me know.
When is the best time to do it?
For family photography sessions, we can do these whenever you like! Just drop me a message to check on availability.
When should I book?
Family photography sessions can be booked at anytime. Just give me a shout!
What should we wear?
This bit stresses most people out a little! After you've booked I will send you some information on what you should wear. In the meantime you can check out my boards on Pinterest for some ideas. The general rule of thumb is this though - everyone in the photos should complement each other, but avoid anything too matchy matchy! For younger kids, it might be an idea to have a spare set of clothes on hand. Just in case.
What if the weather is rubbish?
Well, we are in England so let's face it, that's a very real possibility! Blue skies and whispy clouds are of course lovely, but don't be put off by thicker cloud cover. Skies like these can make your photos really atmospheric. Whatever Mother Nature has in store for us, we can take a call the day before. If necessary we'll just reschedule for another time that's convenient for you.
How long will the session last?
There is no time limit but family photography sessions can generally be done in less than 2 hours. Its usually quite obvious when the kids have had enough! But I don't clock watch. It takes as long as it takes!
What happens after?
I will go home and spend some time choosing the best photos to tell your story. When they are ready I will send you an online gallery. It will contain around 30 - 40 beautifully retouched images. This will typically take around 2 weeks. After you have had time to look through your gallery you can choose which digital collection of pieces of artwork you would like to buy. Because it would be a shame to let your investment exist only on your hardrive.
“JO CAPTURED AN INCREDIBLE ALBUM OF NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY FOR OUR SON. AS WITH MANY NEWBORNS, HE WAS CHALLENGING DURING THE SHOOT BUT JO WAS PATIENT, MADE WONDERFUL SUGGESTIONS AND WAS ABLE TO CHANGE HER PLAN WITH EASE AND CAPTURE AN INCREDIBLE SELECTION OF PHOTOS.”
