There’s something so special about watching families grow. I first photographed this lovely family at Kingsley Farm Christmas Trees, for their Christmas tree farm session in Sussex. Back then it was just three of them - full of joy, cuddles and giggles with their little man. I saw them again in the gorgeous Mayfield Lavender for their lavender mini session and by then that little baby was a toddler. Look how he's grown!

So when they got in touch to say they’d welcomed a new baby girl and wanted to update their family portraits, I was delighted!

This time, we met up for a daffodil family photoshoot at Tilgate Park in Crawley, one of my favourite local spots when the daffodils are in full bloom. The park is beautiful year-round, but in late March to early April, it transforms into a golden sea of flowers - a perfect, natural setting for a relaxed outdoor family photoshoot.

Why Daffodils Make a Dreamy Backdrop for Family Photos

Daffodils are one of the first signs that spring has truly arrived. Their cheerful yellow blooms bring so much light and warmth to photographs and make the images pop - especially on those slightly overcast days that we often get in early spring (which, by the way, are perfect for soft, flattering light for your natural light family photography session).

The daffodil patches at Tilgate Park add a sense of whimsy and joy to family portraits and you can also find camellias at the same time, giving your images variety. Children love exploring among the flowers, and the setting helps everyone relax and enjoy themselves. It’s the kind of backdrop that doesn’t need anything extra - just your family, being yourselves.

A Morning of Memories in Crawley

This session was full of giggles, snuggles and a few peaceful moments. We captured a lovely mix of relaxed family shots and individual portraits. We even managed a lovely sibling photo which isn't always easy with such a young baby!

These images are more than just photos - they’re a celebration of growth, of spring and of a new chapter in this family’s life.

Thinking of Booking a Spring Photoshoot in the Daffodils?

Daffodil season in West Sussex is short and sweet—usually running from mid-March to early April, depending on the weather. If you’d love to book your own family photoshoot in the daffodils at Tilgate Park, it’s a good idea to get in touch early to save your spot.

Whether you’re after an outdoor baby and family photoshoot, updating your family portraits, or looking for a Crawley family photographer who knows the best local spots - I'd love to help you create something beautiful.
