I met these guys recently for a summer maternity photoshoot in Surrey. They wanted to capture this magical time, the time before the arrival of their much longed for second child, to document their family of 3 before they become a family of 4.
ONE ON THE WAY
We made sure to capture some images of the beautiful mum-to-be. Maternity photos are a lovely way to cherish what really is a magical time in a woman's life. Even if it doesn't always feel that magical!
FYI, the shot with the honeydew melon? Every week they sit together and read about how their baby is developing and how big they are. The week we shot this, the baby was the size of a... you guessed it, a honeydew melon :)
JUST THE TWO OF US
During my Surrey maternity photoshoots, I aim to get a mix of shots and those include some of just mum and dad by themselves. I love this one of the two of them. And so did they as I printed this for them in black and white.
THE WHOLE FAMILY
A family maternity photoshoot obviously includes shots of the whole family. This is a big reason people often book a maternity photographer. Because usually it is mum who takes the photos which means she's never in them! So I strive to get a variety of shots. Some of you all looking at the camera and smiling (the grandparents tend to like these ones!) and then some more natural candid photos the capture you as you really are.
A MOTHER'S LOVE
I'm passionate about getting mums in the photo. We never know what is around the corner and these are photos your children will cherish when they are all grown up and you are no longer around. Mums, you need to get in your family photos!

AN AWESOME BIG-BROTHER-IN-WAITING
This little boy is very excited about being a big brother and has affectionately named the baby Turnip. He loves fruit and veg you see. Not necessarily to eat, he just loves his fruit friends. So cute. An orchard was, therefore, the perfect choice of location for him for our Surrey maternity photoshoot. Sadly none of the fruit was quite ready but that didn't stop him loading mummy and daddy up with a bagful of tiny pears, apples and cherries! If you look carefully, you'll see evidence of this passion in many of the photos!
