Why Should You Print Your Family Images?

Printing the images from your family photographer is a super important step in fully realising the value of the investment you made in booking a professional family photoshoot.

Tangible Memories

Printed photos are tangible memories that you can hold, touch and feel and this creates a much more personal, intimate connection to your images. They provide a physical reminder of the special moments and memories captured in the images and can be enjoyed and admired for years to come.

I have vivid memories of many a night sat sifting through an old plastic bread bin from the 70s (it was brown and orange!) that my parents kept a load of old photos in. Photos of them before us, of us as babies and young children. I can still see all the albums stored in the drawer in their divan. All those printed memories have helped to keep the real memories alive.

Personalise Your Home

Personalise your home with artwork that is meaningful to you and your family. Whether you choose to display a large canvas print or create a gallery wall of framed photos, family photos can add warmth and personality to your home.

I used to buy prints from shops that matched the colour scheme of my home and I'd switch them for something new whenever we decorated. But now our home is filled only with artwork that means something to us. Paintings we have bought on our travels, photos of places we have been, and of course lots of family images.

Preservation of Memories

Printed photos are a lasting legacy that can be passed down through the generations. Digital files can become corrupt or obsolete over time, but printed photos will last for decades, preserving your memories for future generations of your family. By investing in those prints or an album, you are leaving something for your children's children to enjoy. And this is why you shouldn't scrimp on the printing. Don't get me wrong, I love technology. I ditched all my tapes, CDs and mini discs (they were so underrated!) for digital music. I also chucked all my videos and DVDs for digital copies. And swapped my books for ebooks. I also had all my old APS films digitally converted and promptly threw away all my albums.

And that last one I regret to the point that I am slowly working my way through and reprinting them! Because music and films and books will always be available in whatever newfangled format we devise in the future. But our photos? Well that's not going to be so easy...

Increased Emotional Connection

Printed family photos can also help to increase your emotional connection to the images. Seeing the images displayed in your home can bring a sense of joy and happiness to your daily life and strengthen the emotional bond between you and your family.

Did you know that seeing family photos scattered throughout the home is amazing for a child's confidence? You can read more about that here.
